Ashurst Hospital in the New Forest needs a new lease of life and there is an exciting opportunity to redevelop facilities on the site to make it modern, welcoming and fit for purpose, now and in the future.
We want to create a child and family friendly Health and Wellbeing Centre which focuses on providing a range of services for our children, young people and families living in the New Forest and Totton and Waterside areas.
The New Forest Birth Centre, CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) and paediatric hearing screening are already based at Ashurst Hospital and will remain on site. Working with our local healthcare, social care and voluntary sector partners, West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group has started exploring opportunities to bring a range of complementary services together in one location.
There are, of course, some restrictions on what can be provided in a local community health facility. Ideas and feedback from local people living in the New Forest are helping us to advance our vision for the future and identify what health services and facilities for children, young people and families are important for them.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in our survey in summer 2017 and those who attended the Open Day on Saturday 3 February 2018. Families living in the New Forest and the local community around Ashurst and Colbury have expressed strong support for our vision and we will continue to listen to local people as the project progresses.
