NHS West Hampshire CCG, like all clinical commissioning groups, is a GP-led organisation. GPs are in close contact with patients on a daily basis. They understand what communities and patients need because they hear about it first-hand as they treat and care for them. They are therefore best placed to make decisions about healthcare in West Hampshire to meet the needs of our uniquely diverse population.
The NHS West Hampshire CCG governing body consists of eight GPs (including the chairman and medical director), a nurse, four independent lay members supported by a management team responsible for the day to day running and development of the CCG.
The GP members of the governing body are all elected by member GP practices.
