Safeguarding adults

Safeguarding adults is everybody’s business, and all staff within health services have a responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of patients and colleagues.  Living a life that is free from harm and abuse is a fundamental right of every person.

West Hampshire CCG is committed to working with other statutory agencies, as set out in the safeguarding adults multi-agency policy, procedures, and guidance for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, which was developed to meet requirements of No Secrets (2000, Department of Health), in order to:

  • Promote safer communities to prevent harm and abuse
  • Deal well with suspected or actual cases

The Chief Officer has overall responsibility for safeguarding adults. This responsibility is delegated to the Director of Quality and Nursing.
