Use the Right Service on the radio

6th December 2019

Dr Rory Honney, GP at St.Mary’s Surgery in Andover, and WHCCG’s James House, Deputy Director of Commissioning were interviewed live on Unity 101 during winter 2019. They discussed a variety of topics, including self-care, NHS 111 and when to access your local pharmacy:

  • Self-care is about understanding how you can look after yourself, when a pharmacist can help, and when to get advice from your GP or another health professional. If you have a long-term condition, self-care is about understanding that condition and how to live with it.
  • Pharmacists are qualified healthcare professionals who can help you with minor health concerns. They can offer clinical advice and over-the-counter medicines for a range of minor illnesses, such as coughs, colds, sore throats, tummy trouble and aches and pains.
  • NHS 111 is a fast and easy way to get the right help, whatever the time, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Unity 101 is a South Asian and ethnic radio community station in Southampton, broadcasting online 24 hours a day.
